Obama vs. Bush, Who owns the economy now?

Economists say, "The president owns the economy after being in office for six months." So it's Obama's economy.

Democrats say, "Obama has had the reigns for only 9 months and Bush had it eight years." So it's Bush's economy.

Republicans say, "We had a terrorist attack and subsequent war to fund and Obama while in the senate voted for all of Bush's economic policies and Obama's given us the largest debt in the history of the universe." So it's Obama's economy.

Prohillbilly says, "There all wrong and besides, when do we stop playing the blame game and start FIXIN' AMERICA?"

What the hell are we doin'? There is one thing that has been consistent through the late Bush era and the Obama reign. Any guesses……….? Here's a hint. Let's play pin the tail on the donkey! That's right; the one thing that has been consistent through the collapse of our economy is the CONGRESS. You know those fella's in the Senate and House of Representatives. And since we're playing pin the tail on the donkey it's only appropriate that both of the houses of congress are controlled by the democrats. But, let's not blame them just yet.

If you really want to effect change, the presidency is not the answer, controlling the congress is to control the power. Think about it…..The president only signs bills into law what the congress has passed on to him. He doesn't make the laws and can only influence the congress with promises of quid-pro-quo. Outside of that, his jobs are to make speeches and try to prevent the vice president from embarrassing himself. This is a time honored tradition that goes back to ever since the president was allowed to pick his own vice president. In the days before that, the vice president was the person who got the second most votes for president.

Well enough of the history lesson, let's get back to what matters today. The reason our economy is so screwed up has everything to do with the congress we've had in place for the last 5 years. Every aspect of the economy and I mean every aspect is controlled by the congress. You can say that's not true, what about the federal reserve, what about the this or the that, they are all overseen and virtually controlled by congress.

If companies can't get money from the banks to pay us, they let us go. Well that's because congress gave the banks all that money with zero stipulations on how they were to spend it. So, instead of putting that money back into lending, they bought other banks and took corporate field days and meetings at five star resorts to help build moral!

If you're A.R.M. just adjusted on your mortgage……….Blame the Congress
These sub-prime tactics meant to help the unfortunate, well now you're facing bankruptcy and foreclosure, thank you congress. Oh yeah! Thank you ACORN too!

Need money to pay your bills……………………………………..Blame the Congress
With all of the bank and corporate bail outs, they could have sent each American family $100,000 and saved money. You the consumer could have decided who got bailed out by spending that money on whatever you decided. Oh yea, behind in your mortgage….you could have gotten caught up which would have bailed out the mortgage companies. Need a new car, ya could have bought one and decided which car companies were worthy of getting your money. Can ya imagine how robust our economy would be if we all had that money to spend. Congress couldn't trust us or give up the control; they decided we were incapable of knowing what to do with our money so they doled it out. Again, how's that workin' for us?

Ya know, almost every aspect of this mess we're in can be blamed on the congress. No wonder why they have us so bogged down in this healthcare debate….they don't want us to look at the real reasons Americans are suffering (see FIXIN AMERICA ARTICLE ARCHIVES: HEALTHCARE REFORM), because surprise-surprise-surprise Darrell, they are to blame for this mess. So let's not even talk about which current or former president owns this economy, they're just a lightning rod to protect the congress' house.

If you want to FIX AMERICA, look no further than voting OUT the bastards in congress, beginning in the next mid-term elections. You know…the bastards that want to raise taxes and redistribute our wealth. It's time to rise up and get involved America, it's your government and you need to take ownership of it. If you're not votin' you're not being a very good hillbilly. Let's unite and set an example for all the non-hillbillies out there, somebody needs to teach them! And, that somebody is YOU.
