Healthcare Reform is the most important thing congress can be working on today. My ass! Healthcare reform is another example of the tail wagging the dog. It's a cover for hiding the much larger issues that the United States are facing. It's a smokescreen and the government, the media and you are falling into this big pile of shit. The government, Democrats and Republicans alike are unable to resolve the real problems we're faced with so they put forward healthcare as a distraction.
Unemployment: I can't find a job to pay my mortgage and put food on my families table. How the hell is a healthcare bill going to fix that? Really….heathcare reform isn't going to save a single good paying blue collar job! I'm fifty years old, unemployed and been looking for a job for 10 months. I'm not going to go to medical school to take advantage of the public healthcare system the government is forcing on us. We need to put people to work with a decent wage and healthcare benefits.
Social Security: Who's talking about it these days….NOBODY! Social Security relies on people working now to pay for the retirees collecting. Social Security was in trouble before we all lost our jobs, what condition is it in now? NOBODY is talking about it because a healthcare reform smokescreen was put in place to protect our elected officials. They don't have the answers and as long as we're focused on something else, they don't have to deal with it!
US debt and deficits: I have an idea! I'm out of money so I started a discussion with my wife to buy a new flat screen high definition television. She's so happy to be thinking about this new television and the redecorating that will take place to accommodate the new TV, she forgot we don't have any money. We don't have jobs to put food on our table but were thinking about spending trillions to support our banking, auto builders and oh yea we're going to give everyone free healthcare. Who the hell is going to pay for this? If you're lucky enough to have a job, you are! The latest out of DC, a family with a combined income of $66,000 will pay 13% ($8580) of their income to pay for the current plan. That's equivalent to them buying a new car every 2-1/2 years. That means hundreds of thousands of cars won't be bought so that the government can supply a doctor's visit to people like me who are unemployed without healthcare. I'd rather have the job making cars, this would fix my income issue and my healthcare needs and of course I could buy my wife that new television I promised her.
National Security: And finally, If we all have healthcare; the terrorists will stay away, Iran wouldn't dare send a missile our way, North Korea will stabilize, Mexicans won't want to come here illegally, and we can all turn in our guns to be made into examination tables for all the new clinics and doctors' that sprout up to support our new free healthcare. In this new safer world, think of the money we'll save when we get rid of; air port security, the CIA, the NSA, the FBI, the ATF and all of those useless government agencies like that pesky military and all of those police departments. Yep! This healthcare thing sure is going to fix a lot of national security issues. It's going to be like a damned utopia, just as soon as we get this bill passed.
America, don't take your eyes of the prize. Don't let this smokescreen detour you from what we really need. We need Jobs, we need reasonable social security, we need to cut our spending and we need a safe country in which to raise our families. Healthcare is not going to fix America. We need responsible politicians to focus on that. This means you got to get involved and vote out these rascals that would have you focus something other than what's important.
